The Living Seats
Seat No. 1      Seat No. 2     Seat No. 3

Seat No 1 - Chamomile

As part of the development of the Secret Garden it was decided to create three 'living seats.'

One of which is set in a small sensory garden area.  This was originally a small raised bed.  There were two this size but it was felt they might be more beneficial as living seats.  They were planted up early 2006.

Building seat No. 1

Left:  This was how it appeared when first planted up in 2006.  Originally this seat was going to be as you see here, but with beds either side.  However, when it came to building the beds it was felt that access to the seat was no wide enough.   So the bed on the right was narrowed a little.  But this then led to there being a wide gap between the seat and the bed; it looked a little out of place, less central.

Right:  You can see here where the white line is was the original proposed line of the brick wall.  Rather than have a strange gap the the right of the seat, it was decided to enlarge the seat to fill the gap.

Compare this to the two images below.  The seat was enlarged on the 10th of July 2007.  All that needs now is to fill the gaps with soil and plant in some more Chamomile.
